Okay, so there’s this guy who came up with a t-shirt bearing the message “Jesus is my homeboy.” I’m sure it appeals to the same sorts of people who buy WWJD panties (tongue in cheek here) or inspirational socks (absolutely not kidding). Then this other guy, let’s call him, oh, say Jewish, comes out with a parody shirt that reminds people that “Jesus was a kike.” True in a sort of, you know, offensive way, but I guess when you’re Jewish, calling another Jew a kike is sort of like two African Americans calling each other “nigger”. So, in that respect, I guess it’s just a matter of time before we see a shirt reminding people that “Dr. Martin Luther King was a nigger.”
Kidding! Poking fun in an ironic and absolutely tasteless way! But I mean, really, why is it that certain offensive words aren’t offensive when spoken by a member of the group whom the offensive word is intended to denigrate?
Anyway, Guy number one sics his lawyer on guy number two and hilarity ensues, in an IP law, lawyer-baiting sort of way, that is.
