No, really. Nazis, by way of global corporate collaborationists and anti-Semites, like Henry Ford and the DuPont family. And of course we have to keep in mind the contributions of the Soviets and the Vatican.
And George Bush. Don’t forget George Bush.
Seriously, when I came across this on Metafilter, I mistakenly believed that there might be something interesting here. And it did start out sounding kind of plausible: Industrial hemp has been suppressed by oil based industrialists who recognize that hemp, as a limitless renewable resource with a wide variety of applications, represents a significant threat to their limited oil based empires.
What that has to do with the assassination of John F. Kennedy, I never quite understood. Nonetheless, this is a true work of art that belongs in the section of the library with anti-gravity and the moon landing hoax books. If nothing else, it serves as a really good example of how conspiracy theorists will seize upon a plausible argument and expand it to explain, for instance, the slide of America into fascism or why Oswald couldn’t have acted alone.
