Real life in an imaginary place.

Ok, so stop me if you’ve heard this one…

September 17th, 2005 by Wood

Australian guy, wearing a wool shirt and a nylon jacket walks into a building and sets the carpet on fire.

With his brain.

No, seriously, with the 40,000 volt static charge he built up by wearing wool with nylon (and after after Labor Day too. Shame!). Yahoo! News, that bastion of journalistic integrity, has the story here.

I call bullshit. No effin’ way. Even if you could generate 40,000 volts by wearing a sweater, you can’t set carpet on fire with a static charge. No way.

Well…

Maybe if you soaked the carpet with gasoline and turned up the heat so you’d have lots of gas vapors. Yeah, maybe then.

This has got “Future Mythbusters Episode” written all over it.
